Our Favorite Top 10 Places to Eat in Oklahoma City

Updated: Apr 6

If you're looking for a great meal in Oklahoma City, you won't be disappointed. There are so many amazing restaurants to choose from, it can be tough to decide where to go. To help narrow things down, we've compiled a list of our top 10 favorite places to eat in Oklahoma City. Whether you're in the mood for BBQ, burgers, pizza, Mexican food, or something else entirely, you'll find a spot on this list that will suit your taste buds. And the good news is every restaurant on our list is less than 8 miles from The Lodge OKC!

  • Vito's Ristorante, 7628 N May Ave, 73116 - This is a MUST for local, Italian food. The owner, Cathy, has time-tested family recipes that you will enjoy. Be sure you don't load up on the bread and dipping sauce (you'll thank me later). You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, salads, pasta, steak or fish. UPDATE 2/15/24 - It's with immense sadness that we share the passing of Cathy Cummings, the owner of Vito's. On your next visit to Vito's enjoy the pasta, have the extra glass of wine, order the dessert. Live life to the fullest. That's what Cathy would have wanted.

  • Iron Star Urban Barbecue, 3700 N Shartel Ave, 73118 - This is Jeff's favorite barbecue place in OKC. He swears by the ribs, or really any meat. The corn pudding, braised greens are his favorite sides. For me, I love the Salmon Salad with the chipotle ranch dressing, topped with onion rings.

  • Cafe Kacao, 3325 N Classen Blvd, 73118 - This is THE place for breakfast. With authentic Guatemalan food, you better get here early so you can get a table. I'm a huge fan of the Migallas with the green sauce (I love that you can actually buy a bottle of that to go now!) and Jeff does the Huevos Rancheros. If you do happen to get caught in a rush, grab a hot coffee or a fancy coffee drink (that's what I call my lattes, ha). It's so close you can literally roll out of bed and probably get there before the rush!

  • S&B's Burger Joint, 5929 N May Ave., 73112 - For unique burgers and beer, this is our go-to place! Usually Jeff and I swing by after we've been doing some of weekend activities (like updating something at the short term rentals or taking care of the lawn/garden). Not only is the food great, but they have a great Bloody Mary (get the King Bloody Mary, it's like as if a drink and appetizer had a baby), yum! And they serve burgers in slider and full sizes, so you can try some different flavors until you find the right one (mine is The Colombian!).

  • Abel's Méxican Restaurant, 5822 NW 50th St, Warr Acres, OK 73122 - For the best street tacos, you have to stop by Abel's. The pastor tacos are my favorite and like old faithful, Jeff really loves the Huevos Rancheros. Their green salsa is amazing too! It's a little spicy so if that's not your bag, you might ease into it before taking a big bite. And almost better yet, the service here is on point!

  • Abu Omar Halal Food Truck, 3700 N Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73122 - If you need a quick and easy lunch, stop by this food truck for some chicken shawarma over rice. I didn't know I was a shawarma fan until I tasted it from this place. Delicious!

  • Phở Thái Nguyên, 3221 N Classen Blvd, 73118 - Regardless of the season, sometimes a steaming bowl of pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) just hits the spot! We were introduced to this place by our dear friend, Jill, and we lovingly call it "The Yellow Place" because of the yellow awning at the entrance of the building. They have an extensive menu, but all I know to order is the DC6 (Vegetarian Pho with Tofu). It really hits the spot!

  • The Wedge Pizzeria, 4709 N Western Ave, 73118 - This is our Wednesday night spot, as their special is a full pizza and wine for $35. It's a bargain! Plus the servers are attentive and pizzas come out piping hot after spending 90 seconds in the 600 degree wood burning oven. With indoor and outdoor seating, you can find the right table to fit your family (and Oklahoma weather). UPDATE 2/15/24 - Sadly, the Western location has closed, however, The Wedge has a second location at 230 NE First Street.

  • Rococo on Western, 4308 N Western Ave, 73118 - We normally go to Rococo's for happy hour, where you have to get a crab cake and a martini, but as it usually happens...we end up staying for dinner. Anything is good. Anything. You can't go wrong. Compared to the other places on our favorite top ten list, this one is the priciest, so make it a fancy night out and enjoy yourselves!

  • The Jones Assembly, 901 W Sheridan Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73106 - While any meal here would be fabulous, make it a date night and catch a concert after dinner or enjoy after dinner cocktails in the outdoor space. Some of my favorite food memories are coming here for a work event and ordering one of everything on the menu. Trust me, you can't go wrong!

If you're not hungry by now, you're not human. Ha! But seriously, we hope you'll be able to try at least one place on our list during your next Oklahoma City vacation. And if you can't make it to every restaurant on the list, you'll just have to come back again!
